St Francis Links
The links at St Francis is a championship course that offers the golfer every challenge and reward the game has to offer. As the course lies between seven natural dune scapes that move from east to west, the course plays equally well, yet very differently as the wind changes in direction. One might say that there are two courses at St Francis Links – the East Course and the West Course!
The layout of the St Francis Links Course combines every element of shot making with its undulating terrain, greens and surrounds as well as its variation in length and direction. Undulating bentgrass greens, varying in size and shape from hole to hole are framed by bunkers that appear to be scratched out of the natural surrounds. The greens have simply been placed on top of the sand, changing shape in construction as the wind changed its mind. To many enthusiasts, the bunkers define the look of the course with their rough edges and ever-changing slopes. This course is a perfect balance of natural, fynbos covered dunes with perfectly manicured fairways, tees and greens.
The club house overlooks the picturesque St Francis Bay village, with its thatch roofs and quaint white homes. It is a fabulous setting for a late afternoon cup of tea or for a thirst quencher after a round of golf. Besides The Links Restaurant, Jack’s Bar and our halfway house, the facility also offers two lounges, the golf shop and locker rooms for players.
Take the Humansdorp turnoff from N2, 70kms from PE and 120kms from Knysna. From the turnoff head to Humansdorp, 5kms from the offramp. Go straight through the town and at the T section at the end off town, turn left to St Francis Bay. St Francis Links will be on the right, 16km from Humansdorp.
