Stellenbosch Golf Course
The Stellenbosch Golf Course lies in the centre of the fertile and very scenic wine growing area of the Cape and is nestled at the foot of the Helderberg Mountains in the heart of the famous historic town of Stellenbosch; less than an hour's drive from Cape Town.
Scenic and in excellent condition, Stellenbosch Golf Course presents a fair challenge with some memorable holes and is rated as one of the best parklands golf courses in South Africa. This course has a championship layout which hosted, among other tournaments, the South African Masters and South African Open in the past. The course is, compared to those in Cape Town and on the Cape Peninsula, well protected from the wind as the relatively narrow fairways are lined with trees. Hole 8 (par 5) requires for instance an absolutely straight stroke in order for the ball not to land in vines or bushes. Holes also don't come much tighter than the uphill par-five 14th with its green hidden among the trees around the corner of a dogleg. Par three 7th is the signature hole.
Worth mentioning is the professional driving range (with greens, bunkers and practice tees), a very well stocked pro shop and a club house which provides excellent facilities like a function hall, catering facilities as well as an exquisite wine list. The club also boasts three residential PGA Qualified Teaching Professionals.
